Health Care Website Compares Medicare to ‘Usual’ Rates
The independent nonprofit health care pricing service, created two years ago by then-Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo after a probe of health insurance practices, has added a new service allowing consumers to compare Medicare fees to “usual-and-customary” rates.
New York-based Fair Health said it has launched a free, Web-based tool that offers a side-by-side comparison of the two common types of health insurance reimbursement. That tool, FH Medicare Compare, is designed to give consumers a better understanding of their out-of-pocket medical costs, so they can make more informed decisions about their care.
